Oil Impregnated Bushes also known as Oilite or sintered bronze is a porous bronze or iron alloy commonly impregnated with an oil lubricant which is then used as a plain bearing.

The bush is formed using powder metallurgy so that tiny pores are present in the metal. The pores are then vacuum impregnated with an oil to improve the materials bearing ability. The material then holds approximately twenty perecent of the oil by volume.

As standard oil impregnated bushes are used in applications where there are the demands of high speeds. As an alternative to conventional caged bearings they are also particularly useful in confined areas due to their thin section.

We provide oil impregnated bushes as plain bushes, with integral flanges or as flat thrust washers. In addition we also supply plates and cored or solid bars in relatively short lengths to enable further machining or modification by the customer.

The uses for the bushes are wide and varied and they are typically found in textile machines, chemical industry, automotive, home appliances, electrical hand tools and agricultural equipment.
