Tapered Roller Bearings are uniquely designed to manage both thrust and radial loads on rotating shafts and in housings.
With over 25,000 tapered roller bearing combinations in single, paired single, double and and even four-row configurations, a huge selection of bearings are available to provide solutions for diverse purposes. Customised geometries and engineered surfaces can be applied to these tapered roller bearings to further enhance performance in demanding applications.
Tapered roller bearings consist of four independent components, the cone sometimes referred to as the inner ring, the cup or outer ring, the tapered rollers (rolling elements) and the roller retainer known as the cage.
A tapered roller bearing has angles to allow it to handle a combination of radial and thrust loads. As the angle increases and becomes steeper the ability of the bearing to handle the thrust loads becomes greater.
Applications for tapered roller bearings are either for moderate speeds or alternatively heavy duty where durability is required. Common uses are in agriculture, construction, mining equipment, axle systems, engine motors and reducers.
